    Maybe the colors for 1935 do interest you, as they are noted in the
    "Anzugsordnung des NSKK" vrom January 11, 1935.
    As field-cap is described the one as for the SA. This was allowed.
    Upon the left side a colored feltlike triangle was to be positioned with
    the silvered NSKK-symbol. At that moment the woven version did not
    yet exist. Colors mentioned were:

    Korpsführung: crimson
    Kraftfahr-Inspekteur: crimson
    Motorbrigade Ostland and Westfalen: dark wine-red
    Motorbrigade Niederrhein and Berlin-Brandenburg: black
    Motorbrigade Ostmark: pinkish-red
    Motorbrigade Kurpfalz: steel-green
    Motorbrigade Pommern and Thüringen: appel-green
    Motorbrigade Westmark and Niedersachsen: dark-brown
    Motorbrigade Sachsen and Nordmark: emeral-green
    Motorbrigade Mitte and Südwest: orange-yellow
    Motorbrigade Schlesien and Franken: sulphur-yellow
    Motorbrigade Hochland and Bayerische Ostmark: bright-blue
    Motorbrigade Hansa and Hessen: naby-blue
    Motorbrigade Nordsee: steel-green

    With the "Anzugsordnung des NSKK" from December 1, 1936:
    black field-cap with the colors for the district with a woven NSKK
    symbol. The included colors were then:
    Korpsführung, Stab des Inspekteurs für technische Ausbildung und Geräte: crimson
    Stab des Inspekteurs der Motorsportschulen des NSKK: crimson
    Stammpersonal der Reichsführer- und technische Führerschule: crimson
    Stäbe der Obergruppen und selbständige Motorgruppe Ostland: vermillion
    Stab der Motorgruppe Schlesien: vermillion
    Motorbrigade Westfalen: dark winered
    Motorgruppe Ostland: dark winered
    Motorbrigade Berlin and Niederrhein: black
    Motorbrigade Ostmark: pinkish red
    Motorbrigade Kurpfalz-Saar and Nordsee: steelgreen
    Motorbrigade Thüringen and Pommern: appel-green
    Motorbrigade Westmark and Niedersachsen: dark-brown
    Motorbrigade Sachsen and Nordmark: emerald-green
    Motorbrigade Leipzig: emerald-green
    Motorbrigade Südwest and Mitte: orange-yellow
    Motorgruppe Schlesien: sulphur-yellow
    Motorbrigade Franken: sulphur-yellow
    Motorbrigade Hochland and Bayerische Ostmark: bright-blue
    Motorgruppe Hessen: navy-blue
    Motorbrigade Hansa: navy-blue.
    Motorgruppe Ostmark: reddisch-brown
    Motorgruppe Alpenland: ibid
    Motorgruppe Sudetenland: mouse-grey
    Motorgruppe Danzig: blue-grey
    Motorgruppe Warthe: cornflower-blue
    Motorgruppe Oberdonau: reddish-brown
    Motorbrigade Hamburg: emerald-green
    Motorgruppe Wien: reddish-brown
    NSKK-Einheit general-Gouvernement: light grey

    NSKK-units that were located within another SA-group had to wear the color according to this SA-group.

    In the course of the years the Motorbrigaden did become Motorgruppe. This went gradually between
    1937 and 1938. Occasionally they were renamed:
    Berlin-Brandenburg became Berlin;
    Ostmark became Kurmark - in 1939 as Mark Brandenburg;
    Pommern became Ostsee;
    Westmark became first Rhein-Mosel and later Moselland;
    Mitte was disbanded November 1937 to become Motorobergruppe Mitte in spring 1938;
    Schlesien was divided into Niederschlesien and Oberschlesien;
    Hochland was renamed July 1942 into "Adolf Hühnlein";
    Bayerische Ostmark was in 1943 renamed as Bayernwald, assigned was Motorbrigade Tirol-Vorarlberg - earlier assigned to Motorgruppe Alpenland;
    Hansa was disbanded. The units were incorporated within Pommern, Mitte and Nordmark;
    within Motorgruppe Hessen existed Motorbrigade Kurhessen and Darmstadt, which later was renamed as Motorbrigade Frankfurt-Darmstadt. Later again
    and becoming a part from Hessen again;
    Kurpfalz was renamed as Kurpfalz-Saar and in 1941 renamed into Westmark;
    the formerly existing österreich, known as Motorgruppe Deutsch-österreich became the groups we know as Ostmark, which in August 1940 was renamed
    as Niederdonau;
    Ostmark was divided into a new Ostmark and Alpenland, assigned were the motor-brigades Kärnten and Steiermark;
    Sudetenland was rnamed Egerland as a motorbrigade first and since spring 1939 as Motorgruppe Egerland;
    Danzig was renamed was Danzig-Westpreussen;
    Warthe as Wartheland.

    Confusing? Maybe, but minor changes even are not included here.

    Note that in spring 1939 the ranking insignia for the field-cap was introduced and the colored triangles only were worn
    by the ranks of NSKKMann up through and including NSKK-Obertruppeführer. All others had to wear the large NSKK
    national eagle emblem upon a black backing.

    This is largely the progressing.

    Hey Don,

    glad when I could help with my information. NSKK-motorbrigades and groups may confuse as there are so many changes. As I earlier mentioned I have dealt with this subject in-depth in volume 4 for "Headgear of Hitler's Germany". In most books about NSKK the January 1935-regulation was not mentioned at all. Maybe the authors did not have this information. You can not always depend on an Organizationsbuch, whatever year you own. The specific dates are mentioned in the afore mentioned book.

    best regards,
    wilhelm

    No, cannot give that date yet. I guess it will be about February or so.
    Have no idea when mr. Bender will send the flyer for the book. I thought
    the lay-out is still in the USA, as I have not received yet the idea for the
    cover. Will be (maybe) the cap from the RAD chief Hierl.

    The NSKK wartime transportation was one of the most difficult parts I have
    ever written. Gave me grey hair, as the overlapping can possibly cause
    misunderstandings. Hope I did all well, but may have some (minor) mistakes
    as you cannot see color with b/w photographs
    You will understand when you later will read it!

    Thank you for your reply Wilhelm as I am sure your book will be a great contribution to the hobby and especially to this political motorized organization. If your book may have a few minor mistakes, it would not be to worry as I am sure you have opened up this field of study wider than what we already know. Dont worry about the grey hair, i have a little of that also,, I call it "Wisdom" and everyone needs some in some way or another. Yes please alert us of the release date we look forward to it. Best regards Larry
