Hello castle. Interesting pin, I half to say i like the eagle and NSKK script. I also like the pin and would be ok with the attachment method of it. However the details of the wreath and stippling around the swas seems soft and ill defined to me. More concerning at least to me is the presence of the RZM logo without a manufactureres identification number. I'm not sure why or if this was ever done on period original items. I'm certain the process of attaining a license wasn't simple or cheap so I would think not only would it be RZM mandate to identify the maker, but also would be something they themselves (the maker) would want known? Just my opinion. Best regards.

I don't like it.

I looked for a definitive answer regarding my questions about the legitimacy of the reverse marking having the RZM mark, minus the presence of a manufactureres code. I came across this older thread on WAF from 2010 same question, w/o pictures but some respected minds weigh in on the matter, and at least in this thread confirm my suspicion. Ade do you believe any period badge would be marked like this one? Best regards.

ive seen a few of these posted and they are always in near mint shape. they probably are fakes..if anyone has a known real one id like to see pics..thanks tom
I cannot say for certain this one IS real, but it exhibits period construction methods and legitimate markings imo. I would point out also concerning the one you first posted, that an earlier RZM mark would I believe have a single circle as this badge does. If there were imo a "transitional" pin with ges gesh in conjunction it would more than likely have the single circle RZM mark with a manufactureres code, NOT the concentric circles RZM mark as seen in the OP. JMO best regards.

Hi Brian, I have read the link, thanks.
My concern is, would the formation of the Marine NSKK fit with the possible time frame of an early non contact marked pin?
Greater minds than I are needed to answer that one!
Cheers, Ade.
