Regarding the patina, I've never seen a rust color on anything of this composition. Everything about it just reads 'new.' I think it would fool many people on a generally reputable website like CG, though.

This would be my third time. I give them credit for removing the fakes, but other dealers do a much better job of vetting their stuff before they offer it for sale. They didn't believe me about the fantasy 1933 badges until I sent them the information from your website and explained the RZM code on unofficial items like slogan badges.
Badge looks cheapish
Well to be fair, it is not really their fault. I know how that sounds but it isn't really. None of these "dealers" are specialists on anything, they just list what they have as they see it listed on other dealers sites. So just pretend that the story on the collectors guild is true, that all their stock does actually pass a board of experts first... who are these experts? their friends, maybe forum contacts or people who they think are knowledgeable from shows etc.. now where are these experts looking and doing their research? ON THE INTERNET, looking at MAX show dealers, looking at Helmut Weitze, looking at all the big names they think are top dog today, and they find? They find the same crap listed there!!! so that is enough, thats the green light for them to go ahead and list their junk.
NONE of these top dogs knows anything tangible.. it`s copy and paste all the way.
To try and put blame on any one dealer or person is probably wrong. As much as we may think that we know which dealers are listing these fakes on purpose, we dont, and in all probability there are no evil thoughts behind the listed fakes that we find on sites like CG. They just get listed as good because most dealers list them as well, and in many cases these fantasy and fake items have been in-print for ages.
It is a no-win situation for the honest, i would suggest to leave the shepherds alone, and let them feed their flock with whatever they so desire.
There are excellent books out there for collectors and dealers, if they cant be bothered to invest in them, thats not our problem.
I see your point, but at the same time, I'd want to know if I were selling a fake, if for no other reason than to save trouble down the line. I generally inform the dealers as a favor to them, not for the potential buyer. I have to say that I won't lose any sleep over someone buying a fake badge online; after all, it's up to them to do their research or at least ask someone who has. If I buy a belt buckle, I will always ask the members here beforehand, because I recognize the fact that I know almost nothing about them.
I don't blame dealers 100% for selling fakes, but I won't buy from them either. I'm too cheap for dealer prices anyway.
With so much fakery and modification there is today, it is impossible for any dealer to be expert on all of the fakery available in today's market. That is why it is important that any collector do his homework before parting with funds.

LIFE'S LOSERS NEVER LEARN FROM THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS.
Thanks Jo. They are getting better at their craft. I would have
been taken in because of that reasonably legit looking maker
mark on the back - though it's not something that
I would be interested in.
Most dealers take in consignments - and as Bob said, no one
can be expert in all areas of the hobby, so some stuff slips
through the cracks. The key really, is to educate
yourself.........
Regards,
Steve.
That is very true. One downside of forums like these is that collectors and fakers alike learn how to differentiate good from bad. Prices will continue to rise and the fakes will get harder to spot. I'm glad to have gotten into the hobby now, when most Parteiabzeichen at least are real, and the fakes are easy enough to spot.
