Hi, and welcome to the forum.

First of all, it is Third Reich German and 1930/40's in date. It is a fund raising badge or a "tinnie" as they are known by collectors. Sorry I cannot give a better ID for you.

    Cheers, Ade.

is it enamel ?could be a sweethearts badge from ww1
Its not enamel, in fact it feels and looks like a fabric. No markings on the back or anything. I'll try and get a clearer picture so you can see the detail better.

As far as "tinnies" i've looked all over and not seen anything like it anywhere. I thought maybe it pre-dated WWII but honestly I have no idea.

So what exactly does that mean? Apologies for my ignorance, i'm still learning Im putting together a display case and I wanted to put little historical write-ups with each piece in the display.

It simply means it was sold on a street corner somewhere, and a young girl, or guy, had a little red tin, and you would put your loose coins in the tin, and take a pin. Commonly called the WHW pin sold in aide of the winter war.

The Winterhilfswerk (WHW) was an annual drive by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (the National Socialist People’s Welfare Organization) to help finance charitable work. Its slogan was "None shall starve nor freeze". It ran from 1933-1945 and was designed to provide food and fuel to Germans.

The Hitlerjugend and Bund Deutscher Mädel (boys' and girls' associations, respectively) were extremely active in collecting for this charity.........hope this helps

    Still a nice pin

Thanks alot!! Copy&Paste if you dont mind All of my "stuff" was given to me by my Step-father, ( has no children of his own ) which was passed to him by his father who recently passed away a couple years ago. Im going to make a display case for him as a present with everything displayed and accompanying info about each piece.....so i'll be around the forums for some time I really dont care how "valueable" these things are, because they will never be sold. I want to have something that can be passed down through my family

I have bayonets, arm-bands, buckles, medals, pins, eagles, a grenade (dis-armed of course) lots of HJ items, a Mauser, helmets, and an old sword I think WW1 (well pitted at the tip) as well as Japanese items. All of these things have come from my Grandpa ( VET ) and my step-grandfather (VET) I'll be sure and post pics of the finished product....but its months away im sure.

Thank you to everyone who has and will be helping me in this process, its not an easy one for me and is taking alot of research but it will be worth it in the end.

    Thank you
    Andy
