Hi all, I wonder if you are able to help me.

I'm after good clear photos of the buttons specifically for a RAD tunic, the dimpled type, front and back

Were these just the normal aluminium type WH, LW type but unpainted?

I've searched on here and the other forums, but have come up blank on specific RAD buttons.

Thanks in advance ... as ever !!

Gwar will come through with Tunic Button pics front and back. In this thread on An EM RAD great coat I took a pic of the pebbled face button and maker mark on back of you want to review.

Thanks both of you for the quick reply, really appreciate you helping out.

So, in your opinion, are the buttons themselves, just unpainted WH or LW type buttons from any maker, or specific type of button, limited to a few makers specific to RAD manufacture, do you think??

For those who are interested herewith I show the official 1939 official
description for the pebbled buttons for the RAD from the handbook: for
the great-coat and tunic (the bigger and smaller buttons). I have no time
for a translation, but largely it is as:

buttons are "painted" chemically in the old-silver tone "altsilbertönung" (so
not bright colored) for enlisted ranks and middle class leaders and golden
    for the higher ranks. Both covered with a colorless lacquer;
at the reverse the button has the concerns-indication, as well as the last two
digits for the year they were manufactured:

Here is as they are shown in a 1936/1937 cataloque from the concern

and so it is in many price-lists and cataloques from other concerns!

To answer the question: Were these just the normal aluminium type WH, LW type but unpainted?
from post 1. Actually and officially NO...... as "altsilber" is a coating.
But for sure the one or the other will have used pure aluminum, unpainted
    buttons.
