Hi Guys
This is one of my new pick-ups and I have a question:
The cuff title on the right hand side, marked "W" - Is this still an unknown RAD marking? because a book I have says that it probably means Wehrmacht!?
Regards
Dan

Hi Dan, this title was introduced in 1939 for RAD units working on the construction of the Westwall (Siegfried Line) defences. It came in both an Officers and Other ranks version. The letter denoted the region. There were others such as "S", "R" and "T". Withdrawn from use in April 1941.
Cheers, Ade.
Well there you go! Thanks Ade!
Dan
I'm just trying to work out what number is on the shield insignia from the other photos I have, hopefully I can get details of their battalion from that!
Dan
BTW I think the "W" stands for "Westfalen". As "S" is Saar, "R" is Rhine, "T" is Trier etc.
Now this would fit, I think, with the number on the shield if I think I read it right.
