Hi guys I need your opinion on this railway eagle these are the only pictures I have at the moment , there are no maker marks, my understanding is that the mounting holes are threaded others I've seen are casted then threaded, the eagle is nice and crisp as I've seen on here before unlike the other I posted that was dull and an obvious fake, thx ahead of time for your opinion Pete

I don't like this personally. The lack of any script on the back is odd, fixing points are wrong, the casting spatter at the 8 o'clock area on the reverse side of the wreath and the fact that the black 'age patina' can be seen to have brushstrokes in it, showing that it was hand applied all add up to this being a bad 'un.

Good assessment Ned. You've shown the way an insightful reply that highlights some of the things to look out for can not only assist the member asking the question today, but others in the future. So much better than a simple "rubbish", "fake" or "4th Reich" comment. Well done.

    Regards,

    Carl

p.s. Be patient Pete, you will find one.
