Well, you just asked if the item was real? If your father brought it back from WWII then, you should know its real?

Can you be a bit more explicit, you say "looking around and found this" then go on to say "my dad got it during ww2", is it something you dont collect, ie this type of militaria, as normally anything that our fathers brought back have great sentimental value for most of us

I hope it is not real...... it looks like it's made from a cheap nylon kimono.

    Dave-
I believe the gentleman was trying to convey that he was trying to discover what the item is. To our new member, welcome. You also must understand that in a hobby teeming with fakes of all shapes and forms, the dubious person would be concerned that a new member presents an item that he states is his father's bring back and then wants to know if it is real. In the past, we have had individuals join just to attempt having a fake vetted in order to sell it.
For me, it is odd that the Iron Cross is without a swastika.

My father pasted away in 93 and left it to me. My mother said he brought it back when he came home. He sent other stuff back but they never made it. He servered under Patton for a few months while he was in. I want to sell it and give the money to my mother to help out with house repairs that I can't do on my own. So I'm just wondering if its the real deal and what it might be worth... AND it is silk..It has been in a plastic bag in a footlocker for as long as I can remember. He had alot of luftwaffe stuff but one of my brothers got the stuff years ago.
