    Dave-
I believe the gentleman was trying to convey that he was trying to discover what the item is. To our new member, welcome. You also must understand that in a hobby teeming with fakes of all shapes and forms, the dubious person would be concerned that a new member presents an item that he states is his father's bring back and then wants to know if it is real. In the past, we have had individuals join just to attempt having a fake vetted in order to sell it.
For me, it is odd that the Iron Cross is without a swastika.
I know nothing about this. I have looked and seen one's with the swastika.

To make sure before i posted this reply i checked two of the known dealers and checked there sashes.first there should be a swaz in the ic first class and i have an original that has one secondly, the silk like material is far to bright red and this piece is not original imo! Goodbuys

I have no idea if this item is genuine or not but i wouldn't take the colour or shade of red as a certainty because of flash, artificial lighting, quality of camera etc.

As there is still doubts about the originality of this piece, I'd see it necessary for it to be re-photographed in natural light along with some close up shots so it's true colour can be see as its obvious the flash has had an effect on how it appears in the picture. Once that's done, it might be easier for people to get a decent look at it and then make more accurate judgements regarding if its a genuine piece or not.

    Thanks

    Danny

I've got to say I still don't like it .... the fringe looks pretty poor. It might be the pics though mate, I would take it outside in the sun with a good camera (phone cameras are terrible) Use the macro function on the camera to get extreme close ups of the fringe and badges, it's usually a flower icon.
