Hello Harti, without better pictures I am guessing this would be a hard call.
But for me the weak legend on the back of the sword blade looks to be cast rather than die struck.
Everything else looks quite good but as the reproductions of these badges has now reached a quite high standard I would like to see the makes name which should be on the back of the swastika.
I am not too convinced with the box
Doug
Thanks for your opinion Saladin,
I'll try to get some better Pictures but I'm not sure if there are any available.
Thanks
Harti
Hello Harti,
so seeing your badge it prompted me to learn more so here you have it.
It is a so called Type 2 with the inscription EIGENTUM D. SA. SPORTABZEICHEN HAUPTSTELLE.
Because it has the issue number means it was issued before the start of 1937 (After the start of 1937 they were issued without a number...Apparently)
There are only two different makers of these badges each having their own pin and hook set up.
The one you picture doesn't look like a Berg & Nolte so if my deductions are correct the maker should be E. Schneider of Ludenscheid.
I'm still not convinced with the box..it looks like something I would make!
Doug
