Article about: There seams to be a lack of info on this forum on the topic of sport shirt insignia. I would ask that this be pinned at some point. I have worked on this topic before on Wehrmacht Awards for

You will notice that most organizations have a large and small version patch, I believe I know why that is and I have ran this buy others and they seam to agree with me. Yes some were worn on shorts but this is mostly only seen with the RAD. Looking at photos you can see that the ones that have small insignias on there shirts such as the Luftwaffe are females. I came to this conclusion because using my wife as a test subject the small ones fit between the breasts comfortably verses a large insignia. If you also look at all the female organizations all there patches are small and all the mixed organizations have large and small versions of there patches.

    (Krieigsmarine)

The 1st pattern for the Kriegsmarine is a large anchor, I assume it is yellow and blue but could be blue and white. There are photos of it but I have yet to find one and would love to find it. (NOT FOUND YET)

The 1st pattern eagle is the same as the Heer eagle but blue. (Not so Common)

I typically do not collect multiples do to miner maker differences because most times it is just the wings being slightly shorter or the color shade is off. The following eagles all have different heads.
2nd pattern small eagle version 1 (Hard to find) I have seen 5 of them

An enlisted man would just have an eagle, an NCO would were the eagle and an anchor on there shorts or low left corner of shirt. The CO would were a eagle with the anchor with a yellow rim around it.

    (HEER)

Before 1932 the Reichwer used a round chain stitched patch that would have a number in the center and 2 color rings around it, if Fred Green gets a chance he could explain and give a photo of one because I still am looking for one.
During this time they used these small shields with there unit or brigade number on it. I am looking for more of these and they came in different colors. (Hard to find)

In 1932 they switched to the M32.

This is the true 1st eagle for the Heer. (One of a Kind) This took years to get. I know of 3 and I only know of one photo that shows it being used.

The Navy used the anchors to tell NCOs and CO's apart from enlisted men. Heer used black stripes around the neck line, 1 for NCO 2 for CO.

The main part of my collection are the SA sport roundels, I love the colors. I have 16 of them and still need many more so please if you have any, and would be willing to sell them to me please contact me.

I was lucky to find this 1st one, it is constructed identical to early Reichswer the I described in the HEER post. This one has the RZM stamp in the back.

There are many colors and sizes of SA roundels that are used on sport related items but these are the main ones. These range from (Common) to (One of a Kind).

These are indeed the most common one out there. You have the large and small the small is for the shorts. I have several because I bought a lot, It turns out that they were all made by different manufacturers but for the most part there is not any noticeable difference in them so no need for me to keep them all. The only difference was an early large patch that is constructed a little different and is smaller then the common large version.

I have not tried to compare to see witch ones are seen more then the others at this point.
The differences range from color, beak, neck, head, wing size and wreath.

If You have one that is not here, I would love to know about it and if possible add it to this collection.
