At WAF a students cap was shown by Jim, who allowed
me to post the material here. Maybe someone is able
to solve the Latin indication on top of the cap (see second
photo). It surely will be a Latin abbreviation, as this was
quite common to be used by students from universities
    and such.
The cap has been made by George Rumpf at Marburg.
The inner of the cap tells about this and also mentions:
    Studenten Mützenlager (see fourth photo).

It is possible this is an old cap and in use during the late 1800's
or early 1900's. But one should not forget this headgear and its
dress surely was worn during the early 1930's.
Two photographs are shown from this period. The photos were
included in photo-albums from members from the Stahlhelm,
    Bund der Frontsoldaten
    . So, TR-period or about!

The above shown cap is known as a Parade-Cerevis, to be worn with
the Paradepekesche. I do not know if this typical headdress was also
worn with the Kneiprock. It might be possible.
I think the three do not wear this cerevis-headdress, but rather the so-called
Biertonne (beer-barrel), a somewhat simpler headdress. One should note the
cap and tunic were rather expensive in those days.

Who is able to tell more about the Latin abbreviation. Possibly HPL2008?

This is way outside my area of expertise and the Couleurs and other regalia and traditions of student corps are a mind-bogglingly complicated affair... but I dug around a bit and came up with a tentative identification.

To me the cypher [Zirkel] on the cap looks like that of the Teutonia Marburg, who used the colors blue and red from 1825 to 1827. So the letter "T" worked into the cypher, the used colors and the matching location of the corps and the cap maker would all check out.

Teutonia's Latin motto [Leitspruch] is "Vivant fratres intimo foedere iuncti!" [= "Long live the brothers tied by an intimate bond"... or something along those lines.]

So, this cap could be old, much older then the 1900's?

Thanks for showing the correct position. I could not figure
it out. Simply while it was upside down! Dummy Wimmy!

So it would seem... but I really don't want to comment on that, as it is totally not my field and what I info I could find is from internet research.

Thanks again. I know the university of Marburg had during the Third Reich-period about fifteen Kameradschaften.
Most of them were granted a name between 1938 and late 1940.

At Marburg members of the Kameradschaften held the traditions for the Teutonia-corps.
Especially Kameradschaft IX with the name Carl Allmenroeder (Allmenröder), who was a
Teuton. They kept the old traditions alive!

This is the corps-house for Teutonia.
