Can anyone identify the badge in the photos please. It has a Germanic look about it and the style of hinge also looks Germanic but is it German and if so, what is it ?? Your opinions and comments please. Regards Michael R

It looks a bit Italian to me perhaps, the axe and olive branch could hint that way. Enigmatic little bugger.

Whatever it is, it is a private piece, not stamped but rather hand cut from a flat sheet of metal, then hand engraved/decorated on the obverse.

I actually believe this is a piece of Italian trench-art...with a North African theme.
