I've never seen anything like it before and it isn't a combat award so I'll move it to another section where some of the other members might be able to help.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Gday'
Welcome to the forum mate.
It's a wild looking item thats a fact.Never seen one before.
Any chances of an image of the back and the pin?
Cheers
Dave
Very nice - and well made too.........
Regards,
Steve.
Isn't it kolonial or over seas Germans...?
It may to be a custom piece symbolising the old Imperial Germany and the new Nazi Germany and was worn by a German living abroad,in this case Africa. The eagle looks more Imperial than Nazi I feel. The enameling appears to be very well done on this piece. It is very nice.
Most TR era Colonial pins and badges I've seen have the "Southern Cross" on them similar to this one.But that's not to say it is not a possibility by any means.
Cheers
Dave
Thanks for your help
From what I was told, and I cannot confirm this the man who gave it away was suspected by the local community to be exiled war veteran, Mozambique was by the time Portuguese and by so under a right wing dictatorship from 1932 to 1974. My Grandmother came back to Portugal in 74'. This dictatorship kept themselves away from war by helping both sides maintaining a good relation with Germany and with the allies.
Thanatos can't you see the image from the back of the pin?
I was thinking if this could be a women brooch for the size of it
