Eric and Chrys..........Thanks ..i thought they may have been current..............Dave H
No problem Dave...that is why this thread was started!
I really like these because on many of them you can see where the wood was "burned" with the template on the reverse side. I assume that they just picked the best side to paint and just a fixed the pin assembly to the other side.
A side note on your pieces...most of them have their original pins on the reverse. Originals of these used that white cement material...they don't hold up well to any pressure really...so be careful with them!
All the best,
Chrys
Hey again,
In keeping with my earlier post and follow up with Eric, I have decided to post a few more period photos of other NS organizations collecting for the Winterhilfswerk.
The first one is from a Gau street drive in Berlin. You can see the Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) officer on the far right hand side of the photo. The civilians are dressed up in the same outfits of the WHW series that they are selling...pretty cool really! (how many collecting cans can you count in this picture?)
The second is one of my favorites. It features a Reichskolonialbund (RKB) member collecting for the Winterhilfswerk. He is selling the miniature Hitler books to a few Luftwaffe Afrika/Mediterranean soldiers.
