My understanding is that the presence of the skull and bones is common and does not make it a Chaplain crucifix but rather a common crucifix from the period. Just do a quick search on ebay and you'll see numerous similar items listed as such all the time. It's just my opinion maybe some one else may be able to provide more information on the matter.
