    Default 3rd pattern RLB buckle

Here's the last of the buckles I got today....and I have to say that I'm real pumped about this one. This one was definitely coming home with me today!

It's the 3rd and final RLB luftschutz pattern buckle that was introduced in 1939, although all three patterns were used until '45. This one is by far the hardest one to locate and the one RLB pattern that had yet eluded my grasp!
For about 10 years the only examples I found were reproductions....until today!

Funny how such a small piece of aluminum can make me so giddy....but after so much time - I can finally put this one to rest!

Super pumped to have this one - it's not only a super rare buckle - but this one is in great condition as well, with very clear markings!

    Cheers gang!

Great buckle Rob, hard to find example in this condition and good price
This is one of my favourites design of third reich buckles.
I have one but with the Aurich trade mark.

Thanks guys! Yes, these can get pricey. I think I did OK...it was one of three that I was able to acquire. Glad you guys like it. Mr. Piter: great example. There are only these two makers I believe that were awarded the contract for this third pattern buckle. I've never seen any other examples other than those made by Aurich and Overhoff. Yours is really nice too!!

    Rob and Piotr

Super buckles shown and I must admit, I have only ever seen the aluminium types manufactured either by Overhoff or Aurich. The buckle was also produced in zinc, however there is one probably by Aurich, which does not display their logo.

I have attached images of an example by Overhoff, together with one unmarked, although again, probably by Aurich.

Note the slightly different designs to the eagles.

    Regards,

    David

Great examples David! Thanks for the eagle closeups....other than the general construction of the buckle - I had never noticed the slight differences between the adlers!
    Cool!
