    Default Coastal Artillery ?

Here is a belt buckle I've had for a while. It's probably a repaint.
It is sort of blue grey in colour that looks more green in the photos.
Someone told me it was coastal artillery.

Not sure that it is original though, perhaps this is why there is no
leather"tongue" with maker on it. There appear to be no markings in the
usual place, and the belt hook eye seems thin.

There are no real signs of wear to the eagle at all, yet there is crazing
and small spots of rust appearing.

Do you have pics of the buckle square on both front and rear? Could be a late war buckle by Overhoff with the eagle but its very to tell from the angle of the pics, its not Coastal Arty

Leather Tongues were not used after 1942

    Here are better views.
Although with natural lighting, the middle photo of the buckle looks too blue.

Great buckle, it is in fact a late war buckle by Assmann, Assmann made lots of buckles but you dont find alot of Heer buckles made by them, and it is also in quite good condition, nice find

    That's great, Thanks Ben !

Another stumper unravelled by the experts !
( I was convinced there was something not right about it. )

How could you tell it is an Assman, what is the distinguishing feature?
One would expect them to have marked everything they made.

The biggest givaway is the eagle, but also classic bent prongs, the catch and also experience, I have only ever seen a handful of these, like I said nice rare buckle
