Here ae my conmtributions to this thread. Please note the two buckles w/tabs are both Schmole and Co. Menden. Teh other gold buckle is in fact nickel silver but definitely Marine if you look at the catch.

Ben,
the photos I show of the tabs are the best I can do The one with the clearest photo is upside down but the logo is readable. the other one only shows the "Menden" town name and date along with the first 3 letters of "Schmole" so I can only show that. I will try again but I am not optimistic they will be any better. I also show the childs buckle but I do not think it is Marine, despite it being all brass.

Very nice buckles, gentlemen!
My contribution:
Nick,
I hate to tell you this but the pebbled buckle is not Marine it is Wehrmacht that someone painted gold. The Marine buckles were never pebbled in either WWI or WWII.
Bill
Guido,
Are you saying that there are pebbeled Marine buckles either WWI or WWII? If so I would very much appreciate some photos or references to that statement. In all my years of collecting I have never seen a genuine one.
Bill
Bill,
sorry, I don't understand you!
Please take a look at the images wich I have attached to my last post.
This is a pebbled KM buckle and BTW Heinrich Arld is a well known supplier for the KM!
Best regards,
Guido
Bill
Perhaps the feature that I have highlighted on the attached image is what Guido is referring to as KM provenance.
Regards,
David
