The Spanish Blue Division fought in Russia, but my understanding is that they wore Wehrmacht gear. Always posssible that the odd Spanish uniform/buckle showed up during WWII.

I'm not sure during what period this particular type of buckle was used but I think it's been around for a while.

I have a couple of them, one with complete belt, and would certainly be glad to hear from some Spanish experts.

Anyone know any reference books on Spanish kit....expecially Civil War ?

I do not know exactly but to me they where in wear until the end of the Franco regime. I do recall them in the early 70 ties on police and army uniformes.

Pattern 1943 Other ranks' Spanish army buckle.
The officers' pattern is sometimes seen on Spanish volunteers in Russia. never seen an enlistedman example on pics.
The officer model differs as the eagle appeard into a frame (like the pattern 1935 red army bucle) and the cross is enamelled in red color.

Is a very common item in Spain, you can get one for 10 dollars.
