This heavily damaged hessian buckle is indeed a pre 1895 model whiwh was used with the 50mm leather belt
In this condition, this buckle is not collectable as such, but as a combat item found in the field, in my humble opinion of buckle collector
Hessian 50mm buckles are difficult to find nowadays, and even the 1895 types are scarce, especially the nickel silver version used by IR 115
crumpled buckle is difficult to measure accurately. buckle is made of iron or brass? metal after 1915. 1847 - 1895 only brass, nickel silver. sizes 1847-95. 43 x 63 mm 38 x 70 mm 52 x 64 mm
I left some mud and made a picture, it looks like rust Buckle is made of brass
Yes buckle 1847 - 1895. Sorry. I bad considered photo.

Howdy guys, new to the forum. A really great and active forum, for sure. I picked this one up some years back, looks like a good one to me. But after seeing a lot of threads about fakes of all kinds I thought I'd post and see what the more experienced folks think.
Cheers!
Jeff
