    Hello

After a lot (too much, my wife says!) of Ww2 helmets, I bought a few weeks ago a British Mk6 helmet with " DPM regular" Cover

One of my few composite helmet : a British Mk6

One of my few composite helmet : a British Mk6

I have a question : what means the text inside:

One of my few composite helmet : a British Mk6
    I read:
    S/C
    PILE
    BWG

    S/C for Staff corporal?

Thank you for reading and for your help.

    Salut de France.

    Hello.

    It's a 1986 model.

Do I look for marking on the cover?

it is not necessary. It is not a common design - there are 2 horizontal rings of elastic and USUALLY there are some vertical ones as well...this looks like an early cover...I may be wrong.

    Thank you.

Any idea about the marking? rank and name or something else? I'm a newbee in composite helmets and I don't know anything about UK army.

No....sorry...it’s almost always a shortened surname and a truncated service number but I cannot make that out...but to be honest I’d stop focusing on the helmet and start to enjoy the cover.

I enjoy both of them ;-)

Thank you for your help and your information on the cover.
    Best regards.

Staff Corporal is pretty obscure - I had to google to remind myself it was one of the 'odd' cavalry titles! - its written quite 'crudely' though, so could the second letter of the apparent rank be an 'L' instead?

"S / L" being an abbreviation (albeit not the correct 'official' one) I have seen used for the rank, it might therefore be an RAF Squadron Leader's helmet.

"BWG" doesn't ring any bells I'm afraid though.

Hi, could well be Squadron Leader Pile, B wing. Leon.
