here we have my polish composite model 1993 ,i would say it is more soviet influenced in design than the usual us style this is also reflected in the amoebic style camo covers there are plenty of scribblings inside and even under the foam crown padding the pantera covers i show are temperate woodland wz 93 and the later arid/ desert cover i believe both we used in iraq /isaf afghanistan ,enjoy james

Very nice indeed James, and a new one on me as I have never really had an interest in Polish helmets( as such),but I like this one a lot, and with the covers and text inside all the more interesting. I would imagine these are not exactly common and fairly hard to pick up.

i wouldnt mind picking up the elusive puma pattern cover too ,my only dilema now is which cover to keep on it for display ,hmm

I wouldn't care to say that the Wz93 was particularly influenced by the Russians. In fact it seeems a rather more advanced design than the Russian composites of that time; in general I think that the Russians were somewhat behind other nations in development and adoption of composite helmets (except for a startling variety of heavy close-assulat helmets which have no real equivalence elsewhere).

The Poles seemed to make a point of *not* using the generic Russian M40 type shape as soon as they could; the Wz67 and Wz75 have a definate genetic trace back to the Wz31, which has distinct symbolic value in Poland.

There have been at least two newer Polish composites in general service -

The Wz2000 -

and the Wz2005 -

all three of which (including the 93 I mean) have distinctly different liner and chinstrap designs.

There is also a variant of the 2005 (which might, or might not, be a Wz2008) which has a four-point rather than three-point chinstrap rig.

The Wz93 shows up on Ebay and the like fairly often today, though the best way of getting the other would be to have a Polish pal who can buy for you from Allegro, the Polish Ebay. (Thanks, as always, Piotrek!)

thanks for your thoughts greg ,how nice does the wz 2000 look ,i wouldnt mind one of those ,i based my statement about the soviet influence purely as a bystander and it was only my opinion of course ,also i imagine the wz93 would of been designed and trialed many years previous putting it well within the warsaw pact eastern block time period no doubt there would of been some soviet influence to fit there idealogy ,the ameobic style covers are soviet through and through again in my opinion ,also soviet covers also share the fragmented style elasticated banded around the circumferance
