Klaas sword with unknown lancet straight from Robert Klaas's legacy

Well Gents, this one comes from Robert Klaas himself, Robert died a couple of years ago and a friend of mine was able to buy it straight from the family.
Please dont look at the modern Klaas paper tag, he attachted it himself.
The Langet has the artillery canons and the cavalry swords, both crossed behind eachother.
This sword hung in Roberts Klaas his house on the wall, there was only this leather presentation backplate, so no scabbard.
If anyone has any info about this type of langet then its more then welcome...

Hi Ger..great sword with provenance coming directly from the Klaas lineage.
Im very sure the Swordsmen here especially Mr Michael Ryan will chime in to give further glory and details to this exquisite sword of family honor.

There is a correction though on Robert Klaas himself......as he lived between the years of ( 1831 -1908 )
Robert Klaas retires in 1897 and turns his business over to his 2 sons :
Walter Klaas - ( 1858 - 1912 )
Ernst Klaas - ( 1860 - 1916 )

in 1898 Fritz Rontgen ( 1911- 1983 ).... joins the company as an apprentice and later marries the oldest daughter " Frieda" of Walter Klaas in 1906
1930 a nephew of Ernst Klaas ..Hugo Schiesen joins the company.

Later on 2 more Schiesen relatives join the firm ..
Hans Gerd Scheisen and Ernst Jurgen Schiesen

1961 Hans Gerd Schiesen becomes sole owner of the company.
Finally in 2012 .. Hans Gerd retires and his relatives take over the company.

The company did seemingly remain within family hands ..but not within Roberts hands a few years ago......which would place him at 185 yrs old

Larry your right my friend, but let me explain this to you.
My friend bought the sword from Guido Schiesen, that is Hans-Gerd's son, his father died in 2013 en after that he became the CEO of Klaas.
Looking at the paperwork of the company, it changed ownership to Guido in august 2014.
The sword comes straight from the Schiesen Household, and belonged to Hans-Gerd Schiesen and therefore it is a legacy of Klaas, indeed not from the old Robert Klaas

Ger, Not a Klaas specialist myself, I also don't have a catalog from them that shows this particular langet type of motif/hilt. With Klaas known before and after the TR era for smaller blades like knives, razors, and scissors pre-TR, and postwar it seems knives. Which relates well to the only German Army and/or Wehrmacht contract that I know of as a wartime subcontractor of toolkit-knives for Eickhorn.

So I have to draw from my general experience with multiple makers and time periods - where in the Imperial era there are dual motif sword langets that were not normally made with swords and canon, but with swords and lances. Thinking that maybe the design was originally intended as a private purchase Officer's model for horse mounted (field) artillery. Best Regards, Fred

Fred i just had a conversation with my friend and the trademark used on this one is patented in 1937, and Klaas never produced any kind of swords after the TR area.
This should be dated therefore in the TR period.
I just cant explain the langet....
