As the others stated a beautiful sword , I don't have the appropriate period WKC catalog, with the KOD 89 designation not familiar to me. With my Eickhorn catalog showing Ulanen-Regiment Kaiser Alexander III. von Rußland No. 1 and Brandenburgisches Dragoner-Regiment No. 2 both having an Offizer-Säbel with a three branch guard in the French style with an Eagle head. Best Regards, Fred

Hi Fred this particular one is also called: Preußischer Kavallerie-(Mannschafts/Offizier)-Extradegen M 89 or simply Kavellerie Extradegen M89 ( KD M89)
As stated the abandoned etch makes this one very rare, otherwise the KD M89 can still be found in Germany when you search well enough, or luckily run into one
best,
Ger

Interesting. In the Eickhorn catalog for reasons best known to those who created it in the pre-WW I era it's simply listed as the Preussischer Kavallerie-Extrasäbel. Best Regards, Fred

Always a little further : it may be

Across that angry or that glimmering sea...
