Orange gripped Kriegsmarine sword...
Here is a in my opinion, a beautifully salty Kriegsmarine sword I couldn't resist! Picked up off EBAN for a nice price, she is an ACS piece that came with its original portopee and a WW1 era sword hanger that came along for the ride! This is my first KM sword, and I have always wanted one.. never seen one that had a grip that toned orange like this.. neat!! Any and all comments appreciated, model#? Weimar era sword or early war?? WOW very Nice Kevin..looks great and appears much of the gilt still remains on the fittings..through the patina. The swordsmen here will like this one.Regards Larry

I always thought the folding hand guard was for the slick look and for the Naval/Calvary forces,to be worn in tight/confining spaces.
I have seen these in all types of service so I look forward to learning more here! Which is why I love this site!!!

Why for the Kriegsmarine ?
and why not any other branch of service that does not have this special attachment?
why do the Kriegsmarine dagger have a similar mechanism to hold the dagger in place ?
