Sword 156 (89) The manufacturer of this sword is not known as there is niether a trade mark, initials nor name on the blade. This sword is an Imperial prussian Army Cavalry Sword Model 1889. The hilt is marked "3.U.2.38 which is a property marking of the 3rd Regiment of Ulans (lancers). It was Sword number38 belonging to the 2nd Squadron.

a. Hilt. The hilt is in nickel plated metal, probably brass and attached directly to the blade tang by means of a round tang nut. The grip is made from either polished wood or a composite material. There are two basic patterns of this sword, fixed and folding guard. The fixed guard sword has a basket style hilt incorporating a cartouche on which is a representation of the Imperial Prussian. The folding guard type is similar however the cartouche can be folded back against the sword grip.
b. Obverse Langet. Not Applicable.
c. Reverse langet. Not applicable.
d. Pommel. Pommel cap and round nut.
e. Blade. Attributed etch with single full size fullers. The etching reads "Ulanen-Regt.(1. Brandenb.) No3.".
f. Scabbard. Standard black steel scabbard with a single fixed ring suspension fitting and a loop to the reverse side of the scabbard.
g. Rarety. Quite rare.

Sword 157 (8) The maufactured of this sabre is not known as there is neither a trade mark nor name on the blade.

a. Hilt. Cast in nickel plated steel, the backstrap is secured directly to the blade tang. The grip is of wood with a shagreen cover and a brass wire wrap.
b. Obverse Langet. Plain.
c. Reverse langet. plain.
d. Pommel. Plain.
e. Blade. Plated plated steel with single full size fullers and unatributed etching. The blade is unusual in that it has what I would describe as a Hussar blade ergo, a very sharp curve and heavy blade.
f. Scabbard. Standard black steel scabbard with a single ring suspension fitting but no loop to the reverse side of the scabbard.
g. Rarety. Rare.

b. Obverse Langet. Political Eagle on a plain staggered outlined shield.
c. Reverse langet. An oak leave wreath encompassing a plain vertical oval escutcheon on a plain staggered outlined shield.
d. Pommel. A foliage patterned dove head.
e. Blade. Plain plated steel with a single full length fullers.
f. Scabbard. Standard black steel scabbard with a single ring suspension fitting and a loop to the reverse side of the scabbard.
g. Rarety. Quite scarce.

Sword 162 (178) The manufacturer of this sword is not known as there is niether a trade mark, initials nor name on the blade. This is a rapier style for use by senior personnel of the Postal Service.

a. Hilt. Cast in brass. The hilt is attached by directly to the blade tang using a tang nut. The grip is of wood with a metal wire wrap.
b. Obverse Langet. None.
c. Reverse langet. None.
d. Pommel. Elaborate tang cap and nut.
e. Blade. PUnatributed etching and double edged without fullers.

Sword 163 (51) Maufactured by Maufactured by the firm of Carl Eickhorn Solingen. The trade mark comprises a squirrel fully encompassed by a vertical oval ribbon upon which is the inscription "Carl Eickhorn Solingen".

a. Hilt. Cast in brass. The backstrap is attached using a pair of brass rivets. The grip is of wood with a plastic cover and a brass wire wrap.
b. Obverse Langet. Plain.
c. Reverse langet. Plain.
d. Pommel. Plain dove head.
e. Blade. Plated steel with full length fullers and no etching.
f. Scabbard. Standard pattern nickel plated steel scabbard with single fixed ring suspension fitting and a rectangular suspension loop to rear.
g. Rarety. Fairly common.

Sword 164 (125) The manufacturer of this sword is not known as there is niether a trade mark, initials nor name on the blade. This sword is an Imperial Navy Officer's pattern with ordnance serial number and inspection markings. There are two basic patterns of this sword, fixed and folding guard. The fixed guard sword has a basket style hilt incorporating a cartouche on which is a representation of an early styled fouled anchor ensigned by the Imperial Prussian Crown but no Royal Cypher. The folding guard type is similar however the cartouche can be folded back against the sword grip. There are many variations to the designs of the hilts of both patterns. Additionally, higher quality and presentation swords tend to include greater hilt decoration and etched blades.

a. Hilt. Cast in gilded brass with the backstrap attached directly to the blade tang. The grip is made from ivory with a brass wire wrap and there is a small moveable flap which forms the reverse side of rhe guard and when closed, locks the sword into its scabbard. The reverse "flap" is stamped "II S.E. 10" and the rear end of the quillon is ordnance stamped with an Imperial crown surmounting a "V".
b. Obverse Langet. Not Applicable.
c. Reverse langet. Not applicable.
d. Pommel. Lion Head.
e. Blade. standard sabre pattern in natural steel with full length single fullers.
f. Scabbard. Standard Naval pattern leather scabbard with double ring suspension and drag, all produced in gilded brass. There is no loop to the reverse side of the scabbard, however there is a stud which holds the reverse hilt fitting.
g. Rarety. Quite rare.
