    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the input Wagriff, maximus, stingray, trondk and Phil. I must say this is a very dynamic and friendly community and I thank you all very much for your input. If I ever start collecting third reich big time, a membership here will be my first port of call!

I posted threads about four items, a Heer and SA dagger, this sword, and a greatcoat. The Heer and SA Daggers I avoided (the SA dagger went for 650 AUD which imo was a little pricey!)

This sword, on second viewing before the auction, did not have any other marks other than the ones I have posted in the photos. It was a very straight forward plain example. Condition was really nice. I got into a bit of a bidding war with another gentlemen and ultimately he won it for 620 AUD. I think this was a reasonable price, but we all have our budgets to stick to at the end of the day!

I did however get the greatcoat, which I will be posting additional photos of for any other comments.

Thanks for providing me with some valuable input and actually becoming somewhat invested in the outcome!

    Cheers,
    Jonathan

EDIT: The reason it took me so long to respond is, I imagine, strange time zones coupled with the fact I was at the auction from 9-5! =)

Welcome Jonathan....the WRF prides itself on being surgical on getting the correct information..all are " specialists" in their arena of study. We are happy you were able to see mostly what the Doctors here can do in research..and look forward to more postings of anything from your collection.

The WRF prides itself on the foundation of strong community..unlike any other Militaria website, ( minus the drama )
Hopefully one day you will become a part of this community and become a Doctor or teacher in this period of history. Enjoy your stay. Regards Larry
