Hi Duncan, Your sword is a stock pattern Army officer's sabre of probably late manufacture by the firm of Krebs. The hilt is of gold washed metal alloy with a silver alloy wire wrap over a plastic covered wooden grip. You say that you believe the blade to be a replacement?? May I ask why?? Although WWII German Officer's swords are relatively common, yours is not a common pattern hilt. PD Krebs was extant between 1870 and 1954. With regard to value, an alloy Eickhorn Field Marshal series sword in similar condition to your sword sold last week at auction for circa £150. I would estimate your sword at between £150 and £250. I am not a dealer nor an expert so please do not quote me on this valuation. Any item is worth what ever you can get for it.
Cheers Michael Ryan
