And here it is with a correctly tied knot
Took me about half an hour.
Started with the acorn as close to the crossguard as possible and then worked my way backwards. Had to take of the pommel, to make the cord go around it.
Then the acorn was to close to the crossguard and the knot to loose. I tightened the cord carefully from the pommel and all the way to the acorn.
The result can be seen on the pictures...

That is a really great job you've done on the knot.
    It's a classic 'textbook' example !

    ..... !

Hbh, now that is a nice looking dagger and the knot really sets it off , half hour ,not bad, see, start from the acorn end its easier, by rights its best to remove the eagle so the cord doesnt get twisted

Thanks guys. I used the illustration in LTC Johnsons Collectors' handbook and the pictures posted earlier by you Walkwolf, very helpful.

I always start at the acorn end and work backwards, i tried it the other way quite a few times and got so frustrated i nearly threw the whole lot out the window, there is no way that acorn goes through the knot if you start from the top, but once youve tied five or six it gets easier but i still need the diagram
Very usefull info......starting at the acorn end and work backwards
