It's been a while, but here is my most recent acquisition: A miniature medal bar combining the Ehrenkreuz für Kriegsteilnehmer with the Prussian Rote-Kreuz-Medaille III. Klasse. (It's also shown on my thread about the latter decoration.)

Acquired from the same source, here are two pieces with which I am quite pleased as I hadn't yet owned examples for these two mounting styles. Here are an Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer on a triangular ribbon and an Ehrenkreuz für Kriegsteilnehmer on a pentagonal one:






They came with these two pieces. An unmounted Ehrenkreuz für Kriegsteilnehmer:






And a ribbon bar combining the ribbon for the Kriegsteilnehmer cross and the Sudetenland medal:

That's right. The triangular fold was worn in Austria-Hungary and the states that evolved from this former empire. The majority of recipients of the 1914/18 Honor Cross were civilians, many of whom preferred the various traditional mounting styles over the then-regulation mounting style as used by the Wehrmacht.

This gave me an idea... For additional illustration, I threw together some examples for different mounting styles.



Top row, left to right:
- Trapezoidal mount (Old Prussian style)
- Folded/bloused mount (Bavarian style)
- Pentagonal mount (Saxon style)

Bottom row, left to right:
- Arched ribbon mount (Prussian parade mount-/Third Reich-era style)
- Triangular mount (Austro-Hungarian style)
- "Ribbon bar" style

This is a very interesting thread. Here is my 1914/18 Ehrenkreuz contribution.

These two bars are frack style (worn on the tuxedo). The top bar is one of my favorites because it has a Silesian eagle and the bottom bar has a rare 3rd Reich made straight 9 EK.
