The 1914/1918 Ehrenkreuz

Article about: by danhashman There are those little crossed swords on the ribbon. Is there something to tell about that? I often see Ehrenkreuze whose ribbons have no little swords attached to it, i guess

Forgive the repetition as I have shown these items before, but I took a new "group photo" of them for another thread (Hindenburg Cross - Parade Mount at War relics forum ) and decided to add it here as well, as this illustrates all three classes and four different mounting styles:

Thanks for the kind words! Just fresh from the mail, I now have something new to share as well. Small, but rather nice and quite unusual:

Measuring 30 mm in width, this is a miniature buttonhole "ribbon bar" for civilian wear with the 1914 EK2, Hamburger Hanseatenkreuz and the 1914/18 Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer. However, as you can see, this is not the usual "ribbon roll": The ribbons are represented in metal and enamel!

OP, excellent thread. Very informative and great pics the underrated decoration, as you mention.
Thanks for taking the time. Certainly made me appreciate my WWI Ehrenkreuz and EKII even more ... if thats possible.

Yes, these enamel ribbon bars are quite rare and don't come up for sale very often. It's the only one I have, too. (So far.)

Two more new arrivals, a Kriegsteilnehmer- and a Frontkämpfer cross, the latter made by Assmann & Söhne:
