I'm afraid not. The badge is a well known fake, i'll leave it to others to point out the major defects.

    Regards, Ned.

Well, I stand corrected. That's why my avatar lacks awards

Hi, I am afraid Ned is spot on again, the biggest giveaway is the catch. It should be mounted on a plate and you can see that not only is this one not mounted but it is also not a repair, and of course the font is incorrect sorry, LeonAbzeichen Für BlockadebrecherAbzeichen Für Blockadebrecher

    Hi Guys,

As Ned says, an old well-known fake. But an understandable mistake given the high quality of the obverse on these fakes. When you compare the obverse there are small tell-tale differences (a few marked in red) but once again the reverse gives it away. The cutouts and trimming margins are different, the hardware has slightly wrong proportions and most notably the maker mark font is wrong. It's easy to spot once you're used to it (as Ned is by now ).

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

For future reference, here are the two types of original Schwerin Blockade Breaker badges -- the "early" flatback version with the wide spaced rows in the maker mark and the "late" dishback version with larger font but narrower spacing of the rows. Despite the different reverses they have the same obverse and trimming margins of course.

"Early" and "late" are in quotation marks because the use of the two die sets overlapped in time. This is apparent because both styles can be found in both Tombak and zinc and so both tool sets must have been in use during the transition period in base metal use.

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

By the way Humblecollector, do not be put off of collecting KM awards by this mistake, get your money back and continue on in this area of awards. I personally think that they are the most "striking" designs of all the service branches!! Good hunting, Leon.Abzeichen Für BlockadebrecherAbzeichen Für BlockadebrecherAbzeichen Für BlockadebrecherAbzeichen Für BlockadebrecherAbzeichen Für Blockadebrecher

Well according to this thread, HC is calling it a day as far as collecting goes:

Ehrenkreuz der Deutsche Mutter Erste Stufe with Case

I sincerely hopes that when he does come to selling up, he weeds out the many high end fakes that have cost thousands of dollars that he owns and has posted here in the past for opinions. That sounds harsh I know, but it is the unfortunate truth.

    Absit Invidia, Ned.
