Ärmelband Kreta

Another pick up today. My dealer has been holding this one for me for a while.

A nice and near mint Kreta cufftitle.

The cloth has just the slightest amount of staining. Very hard to see really.

Spent quite a bit of time researching these 4 or 5 months ago. If I remember correctly WAF has a whole thread on them.

This one seems to be correct. But always open to hear more opinions.

Thanks guys. A nice early Christmas for me. Besides this I picked up two GAB's, one IAB and one PAB as well as a minty Kuban Shield and a beat up but named german mess kit. So G, the "addiction" analogy is a good one.

WAF forum has a great page on this cuff title.

The cuff title was awarded for the battle of Crete. Here are the stipulations for earning it.

The >KRETA< cufftitle was authorized for wear by all branches of the Wehrmacht for those members who met the qualifications, save for the Waffen SS who had no role in the battle. Criteria for award followed these general guidelines:

•Participation in a parachute or glider assault on Crete between the 20th and the 27th of March 1940

•or…participated in air operations over Crete

•or…participated in operations at sea around the island before 28 May 1942. This included Heer/Army personnel that were delivered to the island by boat on 19 May 1942.
