No-one so far has put forward convincing reasons to call this a fake DK. There are few things that may not be 'textbook' from these photos but equally there are things that are 'textbook' for this maker.
As far as I'm concerned it's an original and the sales ad stays until a convincing argument can be made otherwise.

i would agree with this. i think it best to be conservative with the treatment of member's ads in a situation like this. just my personally feeling.

here, the buyer must be comfortable with the badge in his or her collection as is. i personally might not buy it, not because i think it's not authentic, but because i just look for greater consistency to the wear.

Just a couple of observations...The Date has the controversial "dots" inside the numbers. This has been a point of contention for some years now, with many insisting that the presence of the dots indicates fake. I would also question the odd appearance of the silver metal on the back. In places, it has an almost iridescent sheen to it, especially so around the somewhat unusual looking clasp-certainly nothing that I would expect to see there and even less so on an issued or worn badge. Then there is the missing chemical toning to the inner starburst. Somehow, the rest of the badge seems to avoided the damage and appearance of heavy wear, but Just the starburst has endured such until it has lost it's coloration? This indicates to Me, that this is either a post-war assembled badge or else an outright fake. Either way, I would not want this piece in my collection.

i don't seem to be seeing these pictures as well as others. i don't know if it's my monitor, or what.

but if, as Wagriff says, those dots are inside those numerals... well... i'm not a big fan of that.

    Thank you Adrian,

I'm not a specialist about this kind of relics. We show this medal to a museum who told us it authenticity. There is a US collector, who has a expertise with those kind of material, will come to see this object this week-end. I'll remove this ad if it's a fake one. As I wrote it, the marker is 20 which mean it's a ZIMMERMANN.

To people who think it's a fake...
I check every technical specifications here:
    German Cross
and every measurements and weight are the same. There is no indication that this medal is a fake.

Thank you for your reply Simon.

I see nothing about this DK that makes me think it's fake and I've spent a couple of days looking now. There are a couple of unusual features as discussed like the darkened finish to the sunburst is missing but there are as many reasons to say it's right as there are to say it's wrong. After all, do we dismiss every EK that's had it's paint removed from the swastika and dates?

As far as I can see this is an original award and if anyone can put forward a case otherwise then please PM me. The advert stays and in my opinion, a good piece for a good price which reflects the condition.
