Not wishing to be the bearer of bad news, but this shows all the hallmarks of a cast copy of a type 2 badge. The soft definition, gas porosity holes, odd looking hinge, the fat pin and lack of the scrape mark on the top of it that's found on all originals, the complete lack of grinding, filing and edge burr on the punched holes and shear lines make me call this one a copy I'm afraid.

Don't think you need any more opinions beyond what Ned has providedbut (except for his comments on the reverse hardware for which I know very little about) I agree with his conclusions. Poor casting, soft details and lack of hand finishing.
Don't own one of these but have been looking at originals in case one becomes available one day.

The pommel of the sword...the circle round the swaz...the very soft details on the snakes and wreath.....sorry, but I have to agree-it's looking too much like a cast badge to be good....
