You can find original APB with both kind of pins. Wide pin and flat pin.

This badge is indeed a fake, but belongs to the better made fakes.

Wouldn't the cast versions have a "lip" around the outer edge of the badge? What are the other indicators that this is fake? And if in fact it is fake ,- does it have ANY value? Thanks in advance

    Hi Chris,

As already said this is a cast fake. It's obvious if you care to study examples of originals but this does require some time and effort on the would be collectors part. There is a book specifically about the APB that will cover all aspects, types, history and even fakes due out later this year by Antonio Scapini that will be a great investment for fans of this badge. A simple one look give away on the badge above is the wide flat catch, another red flag is the base metal appears incorrect and I'm betting that the badge is significantly smaller as well. For instance, it should be around 58.5mm high and I believe if you measure the one here ACCURATELY it will be coming in at around only 55-56mm.

As far as value goes, at best it's only going to be worth what you would pay for a second hand re-enactors badge, and they go for around $20 new.

    Regards, Ned.
