I think that this badge shares all of the characteristics of the 'massive' variant. It is just the fact that nobody has been able to prove that this variant indeed did exist pre-May 1945 is all.

I'd still like to see the weight of this one...but if it lined up with other accepted variants I would be OK with it. That being said...I wouldn't buy one though!

Of the originals that I've seen and handled, the most noticeable difference between them and this one's design is the length of the sword blade showing between the skull top and the snake body. Originals have a very thin section showing.

Here is a good read about these flat backed badges. It seems that some believe that the reverse hardware looks more like S&L.

i have opne i purchased from latvia a while back and the weight pluss demensions are height58 width 49 thick big detail perfect teeth sharp i cant believe it isnt real but i believe its a repro if we cant go off demensions and we dont have a hallmark. is it real who knows just hope you didnt have to pay a arm&leg

The majority of things that come out of that country are fakes.....

As far as the badge that started the thread, the reverse hardware almost reminds me of FLL badges.
