The Waterloo Medal had many different suspension methods.

The official ring was often replaced by recipients with a more substantial, horizontal bar.

German holders favoured a curved suspension bar, in the Hanoverian (and Peninsular Gold Medal) style.

Remember .................. Hanover and GB were closely related at this time !!

These pix show a Waterloo Medal in my collection, awarded to a Hussar in the King's German Legion.

It has the curved Hanoverian bar.

Also other Waterloo Medal and Hanoverian suspension methods.

    The point is ......................

None of them has a buttonhole !

So the buttonholed Waterloo Medal shown at the top of this thread must be pretty rare.

    Just like the Blutorden.

I do not know if you have seen this one with a button hole. It was just sold on WAF for Euro 9k. Recipient was Hans Mendl, SA Regiment Munchen, 5th Kompanie

I have (very rarely) seen the odd Imperial medal with a button hole
sewn into the ribbon. My guess was that it was done after the war
so it could be worn on civilian cloths.

Brian just posted pictures from the Max. The price tag on the blood order
was more than I paid for my car
