The Lappland shields are a minefield, i'm not sure if i've see a genuine one yet!...

Lappland Shield isn't amongst the accepted designs so far thought to be genuine, they're a minefield as Gunny states. The Cholm is a poor fake copy of the "Short M" type. The Krim is in my opinion, a very worn but genuine example of the type 3.12 by an unknown maker, it's in Weber's book as the type 1.27.

I know. That's the thread I looked at prior to posting my answer, funny thing is, it's the first time i've seen it having somehow missed it when originally posted.....

Hi, I like the Krim shield, I cannot see any problems with that one. As for the Cholm, I honestly do not know as I have never really studied them. The Lapland shield however is most defiantly not an original. They do tend to be quite crude in manufacture and this one looks to "well made" believe it or not! Leon.

Regarding the Cholm shield, besides the crappy lettering, the big giveaway is the talons on the boids feet. The central ones make it look like it has 'Hammer toes' as they are bent in when in fact they should be straight down on ALL original shields whether of the 'Long M' or 'Short M' variety.
