Hi norsk41elv,
The shield is a fake, known as the 'Serif J Fake' due to the 'tail' on the top end of the 'J'. It is most probably zinc, and therefore non magnetic whereas known originals are steel and as such, magnetic. The backing material also comes in various odd shades and colours, as this one appears to. Here's a better pic showing the same bogus shield.

These have been around since the late 1970's and now have genuine age to them.
I know as I bought one back then......
They were produced by Johannes Floch.
