Congratulations on your purchase. There was never doubt over originality of the award, just the inscription needed ironing out. Emedals is a member of the forum, not sure if it's Barry or one of the other guys there.

The mystery is over. They stated it was late issue Eastern front hence no paperwork. They stated they have handled many of these and the inscription Udo Panter is genuine. I was able to get it for $2500 so it was a good deal to me and it gives me something to research as well! Thanks for everyone's help and input. I love this forum!!!

Sam you have a nice DKiG but how do they know this was late war eastern front if they don't have any info on Udo Panter ?

I am thinking its a good guess! LOL. I am happy with it as is! I am going to do some research and see where Udo wound up. It would be really nice to get a picture of him or like my wife stated just take any old picture with a german soldier and put Udo Pranter on the bottom....LOL......Just kidding of course!!

Late war DKiG were also being awarded on all fronts , it is a complete guess i'm afraid which doesn't unfortunately clear up whether Panter is a DKiG winner or not !!

How would I go about researching him as a soldier? I know the link to Berlin research, but that could take up to 12 months.........any thoughts??

    Thanks,
