What colour backing cloth is it on? It looks Luftwaffe from the back and Heer on the front.

There's no problem with this one. It's known as the 'Blue-Grey without Date Flaw', there's one been on GCA recently.

Definitely no problem with it. I didn't know if the front had faded or if it actually was a different material.

What's the 'without date' term referring to Ned?

On basis of this new information, it is then possible to identify the producer?

I think the nine in '1941' often has a small flaw with the first type DKiG.

    Hi Adrian,

The date flaw I'm reffering to is to be seen at the top of the number '9', it's almost completely missing. A few various cloth Deutsche Kreuz in Gold's show this anomaly as the same manufacturers gold wreath was used by several different makers of the cloth version of this badge. The one shown here is actually a black Panzer version.

Below is a Deutsche Kreuz in Gold with the same Purple/blue buckram type backing as the one shown by Jorn, it is also a Heer version, the same as his. This backing material can be found in various colours including black, grey, green, purple/blue and white on different badges. There may be other different shades besides, I'm just going on the ones I've seen.

    Hope this helps, Ned.

    Aaah! Got you now.

I saw the date as having a flaw.
