I found this in a wwii photo album that I purchased directly from the son of a WWII Vet. Most of the photos were of occupied Germany. This was part of the album and I was wondering If anyone knew if it was real or fake. Also what branch of service it would be for. Thank you for your help.

It's a repro i'm afraid, and a poor one at that.

I have never seen one like that before and it doesn't match any known and accepted examples of wartime DKs.

For me, a very optimistic fake.

A very poor fake of the embroidered version of the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold; not even close to an original.

Wow...I can't say that I've ever seen such a thing either. It certainly does not look period. There are almost no details, the back looks very odd and colors are like nothing seen before.

There are many examples of what a real one looks like here on the forum, try a search and you will see the very obvious differences.

That is really ugly. If you have ever seen a genuine example, even only once, you will know this is a poor fake.
