I like it Rod. These are highly sought after by Mutterkreuz collectors. I've been looking for another for a long time.
Here's a similar one from my collection:

Thank you Adrian for posting your pictures. I and my broach don’t feel as lonely now.
These must be a rare variant, As I say I have looked and looked for another like yourself but to no avail.
I wonder who made these.
Maybe these belonged to the more better off mothers who perhaps got them made by jewellers, who knows!
Thanks again
Rod
They weren't issue pieces but most firms that made the Mutterkreuz also offered these private purchase pieces to buy if the recipient so wished.
You see them in sales catalogues of the era from the different manufacturers.

Hello Rod, very pretty miniature.
The style of mini you have is a modesty brooch (it was pinned across the collar to hide the cleavage)
Other styles available were pin back crosses and Mini's on ribbons. The mini's on ribbons could be made into various designs for wear.
Nice pick up
All the best
Doug
Thanks Doug for that information.
I think its a pretty thing as well I,ve had it a few months now and I am still quite taken with it.
I am glade these didn’t catch on because I do like to see a nice cleavage.lol
I don’t want to sound like a pervert, but It would be nice to see one being worn in a picture of the time.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
Rod
Photos of the Mutterkreuz in wear in anyway shape or form are quite hard to find. Those wearing miniatures probably the hardest, those with the cleavage closer even harder than that. I've never seen one but would welcome the chance to!
