Flotten-Kriegsabzeichen for opinions

Article about: I have been offered this badge, but am suspicious of the catch for starters. The other Friedrich Orth example I have seen has a round pin. Front detail looks a little less sharp too.

I would likely stay away from that one, Al...Here is a photo of a Friedrich Orth badge from the Forum to compare...That large hinge, needle and catch just don't do it for me, but I hope to hear other opinions as well...
    cheers, Glenn

They were also produced with a cast in hinge and catch with a roundwire pin, but non were made like the example offered to you, so as Glenn says, let it go, it's a bad 'un.

I agree with Glenn, totally wrong reverse setup and poor details.

Definitely not an Orth badge. Interesting that it is labelled L11 for Deumer. The pin is similar to that maker even though they didn't make these badges.

The fakers are getting better and better...it's funny, that they go to all the considerable effort and work and then do some idiotic thing like use the wrong hardware to complete their masterpiece....God help us all when they finally put 2 and 2 together and start paying attention to these obvious and apparently stupid mistakes they make....

Another 'grandfather' bring-back. Would the Germans have put them together as souvenirs after the war from whatever was on hand, resulting in incorrect pins?

Replacement pins can be found on awards if they needed to be replaced after breaking but not in this case.
