Wood, thanks for the photos. Do you have photos of your bronze clasp to compare to this bronze clasp? What are your thoughts on this clasp"? Ed

Yes I have pics of my bronze, but it is a completely different maker.

Here is a zinc gold by Osang.

Thanks Wood. Yes, I see the difference in the pins. I'm still wrestling with the clasp differences.

I'm inclined to lean toward the clasp not being good.

The clasp from wood is looking very nice. Compared with the starting clasp there are the different points good to see.

I found these on e-Medals for comparison.

The metal must have copper, brass or bronze or combination of two or three of the metals in it. I just found a coating of green verdigris in the "upside down V" space where the swords cross and the cross -guards.
Hi ETF, I personally do not like the very rough look to the hinge , that looks to be poorly made in comparison to the original makers example. Also the catch is mounted differently from the original. Based on that I would say that the one you have posted is a copy. Also e-medals have a high percentage of fake items in my opinion, we have had the owner of that company on the forum promising to refund the buyers of several fake cammo helmets they sold and we never heard from him again as to whether that in fact happened(I doubt it!!) So I personally would not use their items as a point of reference or that of any dealer for that matter, books are your best option. Leon.

Hi Leon, yes, I do now see the differences between my example and Wood's clasp. There is a distinct difference in both the hinge and the catch as well as other points. Thanks for the "heads up" on e-Medals...good to know. I do have several reference books but won't have access to them until Saturday; they're at another place. This clasp will unfortunately go into the "fakes" box as I am now convinced it is a copy. Thank you and all the other members who contributed valuable information on the clasps in this thread.
    Best Regards,
    Ed
