I believe these were attached with metal pins and not rivets .

What do You mean by "positive feedback"? If You are posting pictures of the well known fakes it is very hard to say anything positive.

I know the pins are wrong but because of its rarity there could be unknown variations. This piece is located in its origin country.

No, actually; the opposite is true: The rarer something is, the less likely it is that there are many variations.

The Germanische Leistungsrune was only instituted in 1943 and (if memory serves) just a few hundred were awarded. There wouldn't have been huge numbers made by different manufacturers in different production runs.
