IF this badge is a fake, I have to hand it to the faker. He did a helluva job on it. INCIDENTALLY if you want to see some more of these badges for sale, or sold, just type "NSFK LUFTRENNEN" in google, and a bunch of them will appear.

This is an NSFK badge commemorating the 3rd Internation Air Competition in 1940. There were two International Air Competitions held the previous years.
I picked up one of these about 8 years ago, and I have heard both sides, its real its fake. The problem is, no one really knows.
The main topic of conversation about whether or not this badge is real is the fact that people are suspicious that Germany would have held an international competition while the war was occurring. Still, since there is very little NSFK reference material around, no one truly knows the answer.
The Angolia/Littlejohn NSFK reference book indicates this same basic sentiment, showing numerous badges but also stating that what is shown in the book is a sampling of the NSFK badges in existence. I would hold on to it until someone has proof one way or another. Just a thought.

There seems to be a LOT of these type of enamel badges appearing,
with airships, Olympic themes, and the like........ I'm certain a lot of HJ
trade competition badges are fakes too ! -"Gausieger 1939" etc.
( Usually with "H. Aurich" logos or "G. Bremner, Markneukirchen",
with a different type of catch ! )

Where were all these badges 10 or 15 years ago ? ? ?

I never saw one anywhere, except in books, up until the last
couple of years...............Now I see them at every show
and in every antique mall - Just like the proliferation of SS silver
rings from central Europe ! ! !

OMG, lol I am so sick of those damn SS silver rings!!! All over ebay!

Remember just becuase you havent seen something doesnt mean it doesnt exist, I mean who here has seen Bush's literacy test results?

I agree. At the time, many nations had not yet entered into the war, including the United States. At the time, the United States had a number of competitive glider pilots who flew in international competitions, and often flew shoulder to shoulder with Germany's premier glider pilot, Peter Riedel. So I agree 100%. I think many times, if a collector doesn't have information or been told an item is real, it is automatically discounted and called a fake.

Ok, sorry, my photo got submitted in and I didn't realize it. The photo above shows an NSFK sport shirt with the correct insignia. Along with the previous conversation, I have often heard collectors state that the yellow backed NSFK insignia had to be fake. However, the 7th edition of the Organisationsbuch der NSDAP, published by ORbert Ley in 1940, describes the NSFK sport shirts as being yellow in color with the appropriate insignia. Sorry for throwing that in, just seemed to somewhat go with the conversation.
BTW, I have seen three of these in my collecting time and in addition to mine, I know where another one resides in another private collection.
