Morning folks. I have recently seen this badge for sale, but I’m unaware of its meaning. There’s no swastika and the only reference to something similar is a gold version. It’s obviously a U-Boat related award. Post war ?
Thanks

I believe this is what is known as a 1957 badge. Postwar, most German medals and badges were reproduced minus any Nazi symbols. The idea was that veterans would be able to wear awards they had earned without displaying a badge emblazoned with an eagle and swastika.
As to whether this one is original or not, I cannot specify.
B.B.
This badge tries to be an "U-Boot-Kriegsabzeichen (1957) mit Brillanten" made by Gerbüder Godet & Co.
But it is not original

Thank you for the information gents.
